MoonPay Introduces Ledger‑Secured AI Agents Letting Users Verify Every Onchain Action - Crypto Economy
TL;DR:
MoonPay announced the integration of Ledger hardware wallet signing into its command-line interface (CLI) wallet for MoonPay Agents, becoming the first solution of its kind to incorporate Ledger’s Device Management Kit.
The move aims to resolve one of the main obstacles to the mass adoption of AI agents in the crypto ecosystem: private key exposure.

AI Agents and the Custody Problem
Autonomous crypto agents are tools designed to execute trading strategies, rebalance portfolios and move assets across chains without constant human intervention. However, most existing implementations required users to surrender direct control over their private keys to the agent, which represented a high security risk.
With the new integration, every transaction generated by the agent must be verified and physically signed by the user through a compatible Ledger device, such as the Ledger Nano X, the Ledger Stax or the Ledger Flex, connected via USB Keys never leave the hardware.
Ivan Soto-Wright, CEO and founder of the payments company, stated: “Autonomous agents will manage trillions in digital assets But autonomy without security is reckless. We built MoonPay Agents with Ledger so that intelligence can scale without surrendering control. The agent executes. The human stays in the loop.”

MoonPay: The Human Always Signs
The integration supports operations on networks including Ethereum, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Optimism, BNB Chain and Avalanche. An automatic Ledger app switcher allows the agent to move across multiple chains within a single workflow without adding extra manual steps. Swaps, bridges and transfers are routed through the device for on-screen approval, eliminating the risk of the agent misinterpreting instructions and misdirecting funds.
Ian Rogers, chief experience officer at Ledger, noted that a new wave of CLI- and agent-oriented wallets will also need Ledger’s security as a native feature. Rogers congratulated MoonPay for being the first company to leverage the Device Management Kit for this type of integration.
