Circle has launched Nanopayments on the testnet, a brand-new infrastructure layer that offers developers zero gas fees and USDC transactions under 1 cent. Built on Circle Gateway, it targets the agent economy, enabling AI agents and autonomous software to quickly pay for services like pay-per-call APIs. The system aggregates transactions off-chain and settles in batches on-chain, reducing the gas cost of individual transactions to zero for developers. It supports multiple blockchains, including Arbitrum, Base, Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, and Sonic. This release coincides with the stablecoin market cap surpassing $314 billion, with USDC holding nearly $79 billion in circulation, ranking second.
