"44 Harsh Truths About the Game of Life" - Chris x Naval
To be honest, I've never read Naval Ravikant's book "To Be Prosperous and Happy,"
but I've heard his name a lot in recent years.
Initially, I intended to just watch a few minutes to get a feel for it and then move on, but after watching the intro, I automatically sat through almost the entire video.
It felt like he could read my inner conflicts and those of many young people who are struggling but don't know how to name them.
He doesn't use empty platitudes or motivational slogans; instead, he brutally dissects distorted thinking about money, happiness, and the meaning of life.
I took notes because there were so many unconventional yet incredibly logical insights.
And this is day 10 of the 100 most valuable lessons from utub university.
Here are the most powerful points:
1. On the nature of success and happiness.
We often think that success brings happiness,
but he points out a paradox: happiness comes from being content with what we have,
while success comes from dissatisfaction and a desire to change the present.
If you choose the path of exceptional success,
you may have to sacrifice short-term peace,
and it's crucial that you choose your own definition of success, not follow others.
~
2. On how to choose what to do.
Find something that feels light and playful to you,
but to others it appears like hard work.
When you do what is true to your nature,
you will have no competitors because no one can be a better "you" than you.
Make yourself a unique and irreplaceable product.
~
3. On the pitfalls of status games.
He clearly distinguishes between wealth creation and status games.
Wealth creation is a win-win game; we all create value for society.
Conversely, chasing status and fame is a zero-sum game,
meaning that for you to be first, others must fall to second place,
and it will keep you constantly angry and consumed by competition.
~
4. On the art of decision-making.
In today's world with so many choices,
if you are faced with a decision and feel uncertain about whether to choose it or not,
the answer is always "no".
Only agree when you feel absolutely certain you want to do it,
otherwise, default to refusing to save your time and mind for truly significant opportunities.
~
5. On Anxiety and Stress.
I really like how he defines anxiety,
it's essentially a pile of unmade decisions
or conflicting desires accumulating in your head.
Instead of letting it consume you,
take each problem out,
confront it,
make a decisive decision, and then put it aside.
~
6. On Healthy Selfishness.
He has a very interesting perspective on prioritizing oneself holistically.
You can't help others if your own life is a mess,
so focus on fixing yourself before trying to fix the world.
When you are healthy, peaceful, and successful,
you will naturally be able to help your family and community in the best way.
~
7. On the true value of life.
Money cannot buy time in the way we think,
and the most precious asset in life is actually attention.
If you are doing something but your mind is elsewhere,
worrying about the past or the future, then that present moment is dead.
Life is much shorter than we think,
so don't waste it on social media dramas or relationships that don't bring value.
~
This video is truly a cold shower, but a necessary one, to awaken us and live a more proactive life.
I believe that anyone struggling to find their way will find their own answer in it.
