"Memecoin" as a label honestly feels outdated now. The term carries too much baggage and doesn't capture what's actually happening in this space anymore. We're dealing with projects that serve real purposes—whether that's empowering creators, fueling grassroots movements, or launching the next generation of startups. Yet the word still gets dismissed as pure novelty.
What we really need is terminology that reflects this evolution. Something that acknowledges the attention-driven mechanics (that's the honest part) while crediting the legitimate economic models and community value these projects can create. Right now, calling everything a "memecoin" feels like calling the internet a "fad." It misses the point entirely.
The infrastructure is there. Creators are building real use cases. Communities are organizing around shared interests and values. And yet we're still using language from 2021 to describe 2025 ecosystems. Time for an upgrade.
---
Basically, it's just that the terminology hasn't kept up with the progress. Using 2021's rhetoric in 2025 is indeed greed.
---
The internet was also called a scam when it first appeared, and isn't it still... No problem with that logic.
---
The key is that the infrastructure is already in place, and the ecosystem is running. Insisting on sticking to a label is just ridiculous.
---
Instead of fussing over what to call it, it's better to see who is really building things and who is just talking big.
---
It doesn't matter if it's called memecoin or something else; the projects that can make money are the good ones.
---
Can changing the name alter people's prejudices? Not very realistic... Ultimately, it's about real-world application.
---
It's just terminology confusion; the underlying logic hasn't changed. Either there are users or it's dead.
That's correct, but I still feel it will be used to scam people.
Can changing the name really alter perceptions? Ultimately, it depends on the project itself.
Using 2021 language for a 2025 project is indeed a bit amusing.
Infrastructure has improved, but human nature hasn't changed. The gambling aspect remains just as strong.
Speaking of calling everything memecoin is indeed low, just like people in 2021 who haven't turned their brains around
It's like when the internet first came out and was called a scam, now still using old vocabulary to describe the new ecosystem, it's funny
Infrastructure is ready, creators are genuinely working, yet they are still labeled as memecoin, this really needs a change in terminology
Seriously, today's project ecosystem is much more complex than back then, the language needs to keep up with the pace
Suddenly I think, this is like the logic after the internet bubble burst, when people still stubbornly didn't believe the internet would change the world
It's about time to upgrade the terminology
---
Just use a different term. These projects are not just jokes anymore; they are actually doing work.
---
Haha, it's like describing the internet as a bubble now—completely outdated concept.
---
Indeed, infrastructure has matured, creators are building seriously, and the community has real value, but people are still mocking "memecoin"... it's ironic.
---
The name doesn't matter; what's important is to admit that this has shifted from pure speculation to having an economic model, or it will never be truly understood.
---
It's ridiculous to still be using the word memecoin in 2025; that needs to change.
Changing its name to make people believe it has "evolved"? Don't be ridiculous.
No matter how beautifully it's packaged, it's still the same trick of traffic monetization.
---
But on the other hand, creating new terminology definitely requires someone to push it, otherwise it will never break out of the public opinion trap.
---
Wait, doesn't this logic seem a bit off? If there truly is a real use case, then there's no need to change the name to whitewash it……
---
I agree with upgrading the language system, but the key is that the community itself must first produce something. Most people still talking about vocabulary haven't actually built anything.
---
When you say "the infrastructure is already there," why do I still see a bunch of template contracts being copied and pasted?
---
Internet has also been called a fad, but the difference is that people are actually using it… what about memecoin?
---
Exactly, calling it memecoin now is as absurd as saying the internet is a trend.
---
The problem is that no new terms are being adopted; everyone is still used to calling it that... can't change it.
---
Infrastructure and applications are in place, but unfortunately, just one word "memecoin" is enough to sentence it to death, which is truly unfair.
---
More and more projects are actually doing things, but the labels still stick to 2021, which really holds them back.
I didn't expect anyone to still be describing the 2025 ecosystem with language from 2021.
As the terminology upgrades, the infrastructure must also keep up.
The key is, how do we quantify community value? That's the real challenge.
