From Toys to Practical Tools: Ethereum Founder Reflects on a Decade of Decentralized Application Evolution
【BitPush】Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin recently shared his thoughts on the development trajectory of blockchain technology. Going back to 2014, the vision was already very ambitious—permissionless decentralized applications capable of supporting finance, social networking, travel sharing, organizational governance, crowdfunding, and more, even creating entirely new alternative network ecosystems, all built on the same technological foundation.
Although this core vision has sometimes been blurry or overshadowed by various trending concepts over the past few years, it has never truly disappeared. Vitalik emphasizes that the core technology supporting this vision is actually continuously deepening and improving.
He mentioned an interesting comparison: in 2014, decentralized applications were basically toys, with user experience being a hundred times worse than now. Fast forward to today, decentralized tools are incredibly user-friendly; he even uses these tools daily to write documents and collaborate with others. What does this indicate? The spring of decentralized applications is coming, and the opportunity is right in front of us.
