Can mobile mining really make money? A comparison and review of five mainstream apps
Recently, many people have been asking whether mobile mining is reliable. Today, I'll break down some of the mainstream apps.
## What mobile mining apps are still available?
CryptoTab was the first to gain popularity. It's easy to set up, but honestly, the earnings are not high. It mainly relies on inviting friends for referral bonuses to increase income—something everyone understands.
StormGain has user-friendly feedback and decent security. The downside is that you need to restart it every 4 hours, which can be a bit annoying.
NiceHash remains consistently popular. Its profit calculator is well-made, appealing to both beginners and experienced users. A key tip: enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for security.
Bitdeer targets more professional users. It supports mining multiple coins and offers different package tiers. Knowledgeable users tend to choose it.
There are other smaller apps, but their activity levels are lower, so I won't list them all here.
## What's the real situation?
Earnings are modest: Mobile CPU/GPU power is limited, and competition is fierce. The official claim that mining one Bitcoin takes 10 minutes? That's theoretical. In reality, most people won't mine that quickly. Most users earn less than $100 per month.
Cost considerations: While the apps are free, your electricity bill and phone wear-and-tear are hidden costs. Running your phone at full speed for long periods reduces battery lifespan and may lead to repairs that cost more than the mining income.
## Which coins are easier to mine?
Coins like Monero (@XMR@), Dogecoin (@DOGE@), Vertcoin (@VTC@), and Ravencoin (@RVN@) are somewhat easier to mine due to their algorithms. But don't expect huge profits—earnings are still limited.
## Summary
Good scenarios to try mining:
- You just want to experience it and don’t mind earning a few dollars
- Your phone is idle and you don’t mind paying a bit more for electricity
- You're interested in learning about blockchain principles
Situations where you shouldn't bother:
- Relying on it as your main income source
- Your phone needs to be used for long periods on the go
- Electricity costs in your area are high
Instead of obsessing over mining, it’s better to study price trends and on-chain data. Be an informed person and don’t get blinded by the hype around mining.
