Global Poverty Countries Map 2025: Ranking of 50 Countries by Per Capita GDP

To be honest, the global wealth gap is indeed outrageous. According to the per capita GDP data for 2025, the worst-off countries are really struggling.

South Sudan is at the bottom, with an average of $251, which is less than the monthly salary of many people. Following closely are Yemen ( $417 ) and Burundi ( $490 ), and the economic conditions in these countries are hard to describe.

After reviewing the data for the top ten, African countries account for the vast majority—Central African Republic, Malawi, Madagascar, Sudan, Mozambique, Democratic Republic of the Congo... all struggling in the range of $500-$750. Nigeria, as Africa's largest economy, has a per capita GDP of only $807, just waiting.

In Asia, Myanmar ( $1,177 ), Nepal ( $1,458 ), Bangladesh ( $2,689 ), and India ( $2,878 ) are still at low levels. Tajikistan ( $1,432 ) is also not very optimistic in Central Asia.

This ranking actually reflects the current situation of global development imbalance - the per capita GDP of the 50 poorest countries has not exceeded $3,000, while developed countries have long surpassed $50,000+. The amount of money someone earns in a year may be the same as the average annual income of people in other countries.
