Adams' Bitcoin Bet: A Mayor's Jackpot

Abstract generation in progress

NYC Mayor Eric Adams took a gamble. It paid off big. His Bitcoin salary experiment has seen the cryptocurrency soar to $100,000 by September 2025, making his early decision look pretty smart in hindsight.

“Remember when you all laughed at me for taking my salary in Bitcoin? Who’s laughing now?” Adams declared during a recent press conference. He’s got reasons to be smug. Back in 2022, he converted around $30,000 from his first paychecks into Bitcoin and Ethereum. Bold move.

His financial papers showed Bitcoin holdings worth between $5,000 and $54,999 ending 2023. Now? That investment has exploded in value. Bitcoin’s been on a tear through 2025. Unstoppable, it seems.

Adams isn’t alone in this crypto adventure. Miami’s Mayor Suarez jumped in too. So did Belgian politician De Beukelaer. Government figures worldwide are kinda warming up to the idea.

It’s not just about Adams getting richer. This move sort of positions New York City as a crypto-friendly hub. As Bitcoin keeps climbing—to the moon, as enthusiasts might say—the mayor’s early embrace looks less like a weird experiment and more like brilliant timing. Not entirely clear if he got lucky or knew something we didn’t. Either way, those digital dividends are adding up nicely.
