The upcoming Pi Network update will bring faster service.
The Pi ecosystem has expanded the capabilities of its OS beyond Windows and Mac with the release of software for Linux Node. This move is aimed at strengthening the decentralization of the project, for which the team is also preparing for a major protocol upgrade from version 19 to 23.
The implementation of a third alternative OS will provide greater flexibility for developers and partners. Until now, many of them had to rely on special node builds to work with the Pi infrastructure. Now they can switch to standardized node software, which should ensure faster maintenance, smoother protocol updates, and overall network consistency.
The update from version 19 to 23 is considered the most ambitious for the protocol to date. It is developed under the influence of Stellar and aims to expand functionality and improve governance levels. The implementation will take place in several stages to minimize disruptions.
The Testnet1 update started last week, and there may be minor disruptions due to the deployment of a new community node container.
In the coming weeks, updates to Testnet2 and Mainnet will follow, allowing the entire ecosystem to transition to protocol version 23.
Temporary disruptions can also affect the operation of centralized exchanges (CEX) during the adaptation process to the update.
This update is also aimed at addressing specific issues related to KYC, and in this regard, the community has already expressed negative reactions.
Perhaps due to these changes in the Pi ecosystem, the native token of the protocol is one of the few that ended the week in the green. Unlike other altcoins, PI gained over 5% during the week to $0.37.
However, the token may soon face increased selling pressure due to a large number of token unlocks scheduled for September 2 and 6.
