Jin10 data, October 24 - Ireland is set to elect an “ultra-left” independent candidate as president on Friday, a blow to the two major parties that have dominated Irish politics for a century. The 68-year-old independent legislator and staunch defender of Ireland's neutral stance, Catherine Connolly, is leading the campaign by a wide margin. She has sharply criticized the EU's decision to increase military strength in response to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, stating that the EU “has lost its moral compass,” and the German rearmament spending evokes memories of the 1930s. This staunch pro-Palestinian politician also accused the United States, the United Kingdom, and France of having an untrustworthy stance on the Gaza issue.
