Goldman Sachs criticizes global talent mobility barriers and is concerned about the impact of the new H-1B visa policies on competitiveness.
On September 26, Jin10 reported that Goldman Sachs Chief Operating Officer John Waldron criticized the increasing talent mobility barriers around the world, coinciding with growing concerns among U.S. businesses about the Trump administration's decision to impose a $100,000 fee on key visas. Waldron stated, "We have a very large global business footprint and we need and want talent from around the world. I believe the more barriers there are globally, the harder it is for companies like ours to do that." His comments came after JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon made statements earlier this week. Dimon remarked that President Trump's move to raise H-1B visa fees "caught everyone off guard." According to U.S. government data, Goldman Sachs is one of the largest H-1B visa employers in the U.S. financial sector.
