The July CPI data that was released paints a very positive and reassuring picture for the markets and the Fed.
• Headline inflation at 3.4%, in line with expectations, prevented a negative surprise or shock wave in the market. It confirmed that the downward trend in inflation continues.
• Core inflation came in at 2.5%. This figure, which excludes key items like food and energy, falling to 2.5% is crucial. It indicates a healthy approach towards the Fed's permanent target of 2.0%.
