What Is a False Breakout? How Can You Distinguish a Brief Price Break from a Breakout That May Lead to a New Trend?
In crypto trading, many people rush to buy when the price breaks through a key resistance level, and rush to short when it falls below support. But sometimes the price only briefly moves beyond a key level before quickly returning to its original range. This phenomenon is called a false breakout and is one of the risks traders can easily overlook.
First, what is a false breakout?
A false breakout occurs when the price briefly breaks through a support or resistance level but fails

The easiest mistake to make in a bull market: mistaking luck for skill.
When the cryptocurrency market starts rising, you'll find that it suddenly seems like there are a lot of trading experts around you.
Someone buys a token and their account quickly doubles; someone correctly anticipates a market move; and someone else gets good results from several trades in a row.
Social media starts filling up with profit screenshots, accurate predictions, and success stories.
Everyone seems to have their own method, and everyone can explain why they made money.
But at this point, we should ask ourselves

SNDK fell again last night, closing at 1037 after plunging 9% at one point intraday.
Before earnings, it was still at 1405. In less than a week, it fell 26%.
When it dropped to 1150 last Friday, Dachao said not to rush into buying the dip and to wait for it to hold steady for a few days. But it failed to hold 1150, then failed to hold 1093, and kept plunging. Those who didn't rush to buy the dip dodged another bullet.
This isn't just about SanDisk. Micron and Western Digital also fell 7%, with the entire storage sector being dumped.
One factor is the same old issue: storage price increases are

Let’s look at crude oil again. It has fallen sharply, so it’s even more important to assess the strength of the rebound.
On the hourly chart, the price has temporarily found support near 86.6, but the rebound remains weak and the pattern of consecutive declines has not changed. A short-term recovery is needed, but it’s still too early to call a bottom.
The outlook remains bearish, with resistance in the 88.5–90 area in focus. If the price rebounds to this area but cannot hold above it, another pullback remains a risk; if it can hold above 90, the short-term assessment will need to be revised.

Security Is More Than Holding Reserves. It Is About How Those Assets Are Protected.
In crypto, transparency should not stop at showing how much an exchange holds. An equally important question is how those assets are stored, what controls protect them, and how much exposure exists during normal platform operations. This is where Gate's introduction of PoSEC (Proof of Security) brings an important dimension to the conversation around exchange security.
Proof of Reserves and Proof of Security address different aspects of asset protection. Proof of Reserves focu

Recently, a series of thefts have occurred across the industry. Every security incident affects not just one company, but everyone’s trust in the crypto industry.
It also reminds me of why we started working on Proof of Reserves (PoR) in 2020. The idea was simple: if users entrust their assets to an exchange for safekeeping, they have the right to know whether those assets are fully backed. Trust isn’t about believing promises; it requires verifiable evidence.
Over time, PoR was adopted by more and more exchanges and became a very important part of the industry’s security framework.
When change happens, it can look like just an experiment. Only in hindsight do we realize that it has gradually become an industry consensus.
Over the past few years, we have consistently made platform security and user funds our top priorities, continually optimizing and improving our exchange security measures. But these recent incidents have made me realize that Proof of Reserves alone is not enough for an exchange.
PoR can tell users whether an exchange has sufficient asset reserves, but it doesn’t answer another equally important question: how exactly are those assets stored? No exchange can promise that it faces no risk of theft, but how much of its assets are in cold wallets and how much in hot wallets? In the worst-case scenario, would the assets in cold storage still be enough to cover user assets? This information can be disclosed to users transparently; the industry just doesn’t yet have a public, unified measurement standard.
So today, Gate launched Proof of Security (PoSEC). With PoSEC, users no longer have to simply take an exchange’s word that “assets are safe.” They can directly view the cold storage coverage ratio, calculation methodology, and asset storage structure, with the relevant data verified through a third-party audit.
PoSEC introduces a straightforward metric: the cold storage coverage ratio. As long as this figure is at least 100%, it means that even if the assets in an exchange’s hot wallets were wiped out, the assets in cold storage would still be sufficient to cover all user assets.
Gate’s latest PoSEC cold storage coverage ratio is 104.58%.
Here, cold storage includes not only on-chain crypto assets, but also traditional off-chain assets involved in the platform’s business. For on-chain digital assets counted as cold storage, private keys are kept offline, asset transfers require multiple signatures, and transaction details are independently verified before signing. Traditional assets such as stocks and U.S. Treasuries are held by independent custodians and transferred and managed according to established authorization procedures. We are working with an independent third-party audit firm, and the report will be published on our official website once the audit is complete. We will also share more details over time.
Cold storage is important because keeping private keys offline can greatly reduce the risk of on-chain assets being exposed to online attacks. The higher the cold storage coverage ratio, the greater the safety buffer for user assets in extreme situations. This is increasingly drawing attention from regulators. Recently, South Korean regulators have also been discussing raising the required proportion of exchange assets held in cold wallets.
When Proof of Reserves went live in 2020, I had no idea how far it would go.
This time, we also hope PoSEC will become more than just a security measure at Gate and can become an industry consensus. If more platforms are willing to disclose their hot and cold wallet structures and let users verify how their assets are protected, users will have a genuine standard for comparison, and the industry’s overall security threshold will rise.
True trust should be built on public, transparent, and verifiable data.
PoSEC’s calculation methodology and cold storage standards are now public. We welcome our peers to refer to them, and all users to scrutinize them.

11.4 ETH Long Trade Review | Accurate Read, Profits Beyond Targets
Yesterday morning, I clearly laid out the plan: ETH’s pullback after a surge was a short-term correction, while the broader bullish structure remained intact. I went long directly at the 2240 lower Bollinger Band support, with a stop-loss at 2210 and targets at 2275, 2305, and 2330.
The intraday market followed the script exactly: the price dipped to around 2225, precisely testing the confluence support zone formed by the lower Bollinger Band and the previous trading range. It then began a one-way rally, hitting all three take-

What Is the Funding Rate? Why Can Perpetual Contracts Continue to Incur Holding Costs Even When Prices Show No Significant Change?
In crypto trading, many people focus only on price movements after opening a position and overlook the funding rate. For perpetual contract traders, even if prices move sideways for an extended period, holding a position may still generate additional costs or returns as long as the funding rate is nonzero.
First, what is the funding rate?
The funding rate is a mechanism for periodic payments between long and short positions in perpetual contracts, designed to keep

In my view, while U.S. policy expectations will be the primary factor influencing Bitcoin’s next major move, leveraged liquidations will play a key role in determining the intensity of that move.
I see three key factors:
1. U.S. policy expectations – The primary driver. Federal Reserve interest rate decisions, inflation data, monetary policy, and regulatory developments can all impact institutional demand, liquidity, and the overall appetite for risk assets. A more favorable policy environment could support a sustainable BTC rally.
2. Leveraged liquidations – A short-term accel

The storage sector has been hit really hard this time, and I’m starting to get itchy trigger fingers. $SNDK SanDisk has plunged straight to around 1000, while $MU Micron and $SKHYNIX SK Hynix have also been dragged down. The demand logic for AI storage is sound; the problem is that prices had surged too much beforehand, already pricing in several years of growth expectations. So this beating isn’t entirely undeserved. But still, after falling this far, shouldn’t we at least get a decent rebound? SanDisk is currently forming a base around 1000, and I’m tempted to try a small position. In the sh

Gate has officially launched Proof of Security, or PoSEC, extending beyond Proof of Reserves by disclosing the distribution of cold-storage and hot-wallet assets and introducing a cold storage coverage ratio to measure protection under extreme-risk scenarios. Gate’s latest cold storage coverage ratio stands at 104.58%, with 88.26% of assets in cold storage and 11.74% in hot wallets. A coverage ratio of at least 100% means cold-storage assets alone would still be sufficient to cover all user assets even if hot-wallet assets were fully lost. Exchange security is not only about whether reserves are sufficient, but also how assets are stored and protected under extreme conditions. Could cold storage coverage become a new industry standard?[👉 Learn more](https://gate.com/proof-of-security)
