Polymarket's official account frequently posts "fake news," sparking controversy; Jeff Bezos personally refutes the rumors
ChainCatcher reports that the prediction market platform Polymarket has been widely questioned by the crypto and media circles for publishing false information on its official X account. Investor DCinvestor posted that they have unfollowed the official Polymarket account, not because of the product itself, but due to its frequent posting of大量虚假信息, presented as ‘breaking news,’ which seriously misleads users.
Media personality Rachel Karten also pointed out that the Polymarket official account “often publishes completely fabricated news,” and this phenomenon is “very strange.”
One of the controversial points is a tweet labeled “JUST IN,” where Polymarket claimed that Jeff Bezos suggested Z-generation entrepreneurs should first work at real-world companies like McDonald’s or Palantir before considering starting their own businesses. Subsequently, Jeff Bezos himself directly responded to deny this, stating: “That’s not correct. I am not sure why Polymarket would fabricate this story.”
The above incident has sparked doubts about the credibility of information and content review mechanisms on Polymarket. Against the backdrop of the increasing influence of prediction markets, the behavior of official accounts publishing false information is considered to potentially mislead user decisions and market sentiment.
