The midday strategy of selling into rebounds was entirely correct, with the anticipated resistance and target levels all reached precisely. The biggest focus of this Fed meeting is actually whether the market can continue trading hawkishness after expectations have already been fully priced in.
The market is currently assigning a probability of nearly 90% to a 25-basis-point rate hike in September, while a Reuters poll shows that 85% of economists also expect the Fed to raise rates. In other words, if the Fed does hike by 25 basis points, it theoretically would not be a surprise.

9/17 02:00 FOMC decision + dot plot. A 25 bp hike to 3.75%–4.00% is priced in at roughly 90%; the only question left is “whether there will be a second one.”
9/18 The Bank of Japan is highly likely to hike rates to 1.25%; U.S. stock markets also have quadruple witching that day.

The “lightning rod” of this upper wick is simply too obvious: after surging higher, it quickly pulled back, and short-term bulls are clearly beginning to come under pressure.
