CPI cooled, so why is Bitcoin still slumping?
Last night, the July U.S. CPI data was released:
Headline y/y: 3.4% (previous: 3.5%)
Core y/y: 2.5% (previous: 2.6%)
MoM: +0.1%; core MoM: +0.2%
All four figures matched expectations almost exactly.
According to the usual script, lower inflation → lower rate-hike expectations → improved liquidity → BTC should rise.
But what happened? Bitcoin climbed to 64,400 before the release, then fell to 63,800 afterward.
Gold, meanwhile, broke above $4,400 and continued surging.
What’s going on? Four points.
