Today (August 1), Hong Kong has officially become the first jurisdiction in Asia to implement a licensing regime for stablecoins.
This is not a small-scale move—at the same time, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority released the “Stablecoin Issuer Licensing Guidance,” requiring that all platforms issuing stablecoins in Hong Kong must operate under a license.
Key changes:
