#美股财报季 #Gate广场万圣节 Three Levels of Earnings Valuation
When reading a financial report, investors need to look at three levels; retail investors usually only look at the first.
Level One Absolute Growth: how much revenue and profit increased year over year
This level is easiest to see and easiest to be misled by. When last year's base was low, the growth rate looks good but means nothing. When you see "300% year-over-year growth," first ask: Was the company loss-making last year?

#美股财报季 #Gate广场万圣节 Three Layers of Earnings Pricing
When reviewing an earnings report, investors need to look at three layers; retail investors usually only look at the first.
Layer One Absolute growth: how much revenue and profit grew year over year
This is the easiest layer to see, and also the easiest to be misled by. When last year's base was low, the growth rate may look good but mean nothing. When you see "300% year-over-year growth," first ask: Was the company loss-making last year?
Layer Two Sequential momentum: did this quarter accelerate or slow down compared with last quarter?
For growth stocks, sequential deceleration is more damaging than a year-over-year decline—because it means business conditions have reached a turning point. Many stocks are still reporting year-over-year earnings growth, but their share prices plunge because sequential growth has turned downward.
Layer Three Price-position alignment
How well it aligns with the current share price
The same 30% growth is positive when the share price is near a low, but after the share price has doubled, it is "in line with expectations," or even "below expectations." This layer is the most abstract, but it is the most critical in determining short-term price movements.
Three scenarios where "good earnings still lead to a drop"
Even when earnings are good, the reasons for a decline can be completely different, as can the appropriate actions. Scenario One: Earnings beat expectations, but the share price is high!
The market will immediately ask: Can the next quarter be even better? If the answer is "no," then investors take profits. AI computing hardware largely falls into this category today—not because earnings are bad, but because it is hard for the growth trajectory to get even steeper. Scenario Two: Earnings meet expectations, but the industry's fundamentals are questioned
This kind of decline often does not end in a single day, because it takes time to disprove the doubts.
Scenario Three: Earnings miss expectations, but the share price is already near a low
This may instead be an opportunity, because the bad news has already been priced in. But one strict condition must be met: guidance for the next quarter cannot be worse.
Management's comments on the next quarter are more important than this quarter's figures.
The three scenarios call for three different actions: the first is to reduce holdings, the second is to watch, and only the third merits consideration.
There is only one difference—whether the share price has already priced in the bad news.
How to distinguish a "wrongly sold-off stock" from one that "deserves to fall": four indicators, all drawn from the financial statements themselves and more reliable than any earnings forecast.
Indicator One Operating cash flow: net profit has risen, but has cash flow kept up?
If net profit grows but operating cash flow is negative, it means the profit is "on paper" and may have been built up through accounts receivable. These companies are the first to run into trouble in a tight-credit environment.
Indicator Two Gross margin: revenue has risen, but has gross margin fallen?
If revenue grows while gross margin declines, it means growth is being bought through price cuts. This kind of growth is unsustainable and becomes increasingly onerous. For truly healthy growth, gross margin should be stable or even rising.
Indicator Three Contract liabilities: have customers paid in advance?
An increase in this account means customers have already paid, securing future revenue; a decrease means orders are being worked through, and there may be a gap in the pipeline later. This is especially important to watch for manufacturing and software companies.
Indicator Four Adjusted net profit
Was the profit actually earned from "selling goods"? A large gap between adjusted net profit and net profit indicates that profits came from asset sales, government subsidies, or investment gains. Such profits will not recur next year; using this year's P/E ratio to estimate next year's earnings will lead to a miscalculation.
A practical tip
Check the disclosure date. Companies whose disclosure dates fall in the final few days often have mediocre earnings—companies with good earnings tend to disclose early because early disclosure can affect the share price sooner. This is a probabilistic pattern, not an absolute rule, but it is very useful.

Halloween fright night: from hell to heaven, all in one night! My terrifying night with IRYS
The 10U warrior is back in action. This time, I set my sights on IRYS. Last night, Bitcoin and Ether were trading sideways near their lows. I figured most of the short-term risk in crypto had already been flushed out, and a rebound might be coming next. With risk cleared, funds could become active again, and we might see an altcoin season over the weekend. So I started looking for a target. Halloween Fright Night: From Hell to Heaven, All in One Night! My Wild Night with IRYS
The 10U warrior is heading out again. This time, I picked IRYS as my target. Last night, Bitcoin and Ether were moving sideways near their lows. I figured most of the short-term risk in crypto had been flushed out, and a rebound might be next. With risk cleared, funds could become active again, and we might see an altcoin season over the weekend. So I started looking for a target. IRYS has been strong lately, and its holders seemed firmly committed. I thought, this is the one. Little did I know this decision would give me an early taste of Halloween.
Everything went smoothly at first. I opened a long position around 0.036, using the same approach I mentioned before: going all in with 10U as if buying a lottery ticket, with isolated margin and max leverage. To my surprise, less than 5 seconds after I opened the position, the price started pumping and shot up to around 0.04. I couldn't help thinking, "I'm really lucky tonight!"
But my lucky streak went to my head. I was already in profit right after opening the position, and greed got the better of me. For some reason, I decided to try compounding my position, so I switched to cross margin and moved all my extra funds into my stock account. Then I added another 50% to my position around 0.043, bringing my liquidation price to 0.0405. But as soon as I added to the position, the market turned down, falling from 0.043 to 0.0417. My profit turned into a loss. At the time, I thought there was a 50% chance this was 🐶 shaking out the market. Whether I could hold on was up to luck, so I set a stop-loss at 0.0407 and a take-profit at 0.099, then went to bed. I still remember the last time I checked the market before falling asleep: it had dropped to 0.0414.
When I woke up this morning, the first thing I did was open the app. My position was gone. My first reaction was disappointment, thinking I'd handed another 10U to 🐶. But then I checked my futures account balance and saw there was still over 200U. Had my take-profit hit? I quickly checked IRYS's candlestick chart. It had actually surged to 0.42 overnight. Not only had I hit my take-profit, I'd also sold too early. In an instant, I felt like I'd gone from hell to heaven! I checked the chart and saw that last night's shakeout had taken it as low as 0.041, just a hair above my stop-loss!
Although I made a lot of money this time, it was purely a gift from the heavens. I had actually violated the trading rules I'd set for myself in advance, so afterward I reflected and reviewed what happened. A few things are worth noting:
1. Don't compound positions in altcoins! Trading altcoins is basically about following the whales and taking whatever crumbs you can get. Price swings are huge, and compounding your position means a single pullback can easily trigger your stop-loss or cause you to get liquidated—or even lose more than your margin.
2. When trading popular altcoins, stick to the principles I've shared before: use isolated margin, trade as if you're buying a lottery ticket, set your stop-loss just above the liquidation price, and give the trade more room.
3. Always use a small amount of capital, and trade only with money you can afford to lose without worrying. Being a 10U warrior is nothing to be ashamed of. If I'd invested more than 10U, I wouldn't have been able to sleep easy. I probably would have stayed up all night glued to my computer, then sold as soon as I saw a pump.
Finally, as for selling too early, I actually take it pretty well. From LSK last month to AGT this month, I was in on the main rallies, and making more than 10x was nothing unusual. But in the end, I gave those profits back during sideways and downtrending markets. So this time, my first reaction wasn't to regret selling too early. I chose to shut down my computer and give myself some peace and quiet. The real skill is holding on to your profits. $IRYS

#SolanaNonVoteTxHits8.92B #WCTCS9 ‌Solana's record usage meets a $100 test: an event study of the Alpenglow week at SOL $101.43
The record transaction count and the Alpenglow upgrade both landed this week, and SOL still sits near $101.43, a few dollars above the round number everyone is watching. I treated the week like an event study: what happened on each day, what the price did, and what the evidence says about the next move.
The record behind the hashtag
Solana reported 8.92 billion non-vote transactions for Q3 2026, up 104% from Q4 2025 and about 24% from Q2's 7.19 billion. Those numbers

What Are Smart Contracts? How Do They Power Web3 Applications? Understanding Their Value and Risks, from How They Work to Real-World Applications
In the Web3 world, we often hear the term smart contract.
Many on-chain applications, including DeFi lending, decentralized trading, NFT trading, and DAO governance, rely on smart contracts to operate.
But what exactly is a smart contract? Can it really understand people’s intentions like a traditional contract? Why can a bug in the code lead to severe asset losses?
Understanding these questions is an important step toward understanding Web3 infrastr

The 48.0 reading matters less as a recession signal than as a Fed constraint. My view: weak sentiment is mostly an inflation story, and it hurts risk assets through interest rates, not through shoppers suddenly stopping.
1. What the 48.0 says
The final October reading was 48.0, revised up from 46.3 in the preliminary and just below September’s 48.1. It’s a five-month low and the second-lowest reading on record. The current-conditions gauge fell to 46.7, also near record lows, while the expectations gauge rose to 48.8. Buying conditions for durabl

$TRUMP has fallen to the lower Bollinger Band—is this a buying opportunity or a continuation of the downtrend? Bottom line: this is a window for a technical rebound after oversold conditions, not a trend reversal. Going long is possible, but you must move in and out quickly.
The moving averages remain bearishly aligned, with MA5=1.6744 below MA20=1.7009 and the price trading below MA5; medium-term pressure has not eased. However, short-term signals are diverging: RSI=27.9 has entered oversold territory, while the MACD histogram at -0.002287 remains negative but is contracting, indicating that
