An attacker planted a fake address in someone's wallet history 66 days before stealing $100,000. All they had to do was wait.
The scammer sent small transactions months earlier to seed a lookalike address next to one the victim had genuinely used, banking on most wallets showing only the first and last few characters.
When the victim later sent 100,000 USDT, they copied the wrong entry without noticing. The stolen funds got swapped into ETH within minutes, closing off the one recovery option USDT would have offered.
No stolen key, no hacked exchange, no bug anywhere. Just a habit almost everyo

Goldman Sachs is paying $2.25 billion for a company it needed for one specific reason: it couldn't build this kind of fund fast enough on its own.
The deal adds NEOS's $30 billion options-income ETF lineup, including $BTCI, a roughly $1 billion Bitcoin fund that writes call options for monthly income rather than chasing price appreciation.
Combined with Goldman's existing ETF business, the firm ranks eighth-largest among active ETF managers by assets.

Hackers stole nearly $3.4 billion in crypto last year. The February exploit alone was $1.5 billion, the largest single digital heist ever recorded.
Almost none of that risk touches a wallet you actually control the private keys for, which is the entire reason self-custody matters.
The right setup usually means two wallets, not one, something fast for spending and something offline for the bulk of what you hold long-term.
We broke down 7 of the best options for $XRP specifically, hardware and software, plus the mistakes that quietly cost holders their funds:

American Bitcoin's stock is down more than 95% from its peak. A board member just spent $1.9 million buying more of it anyway.
Justin Mateen, a Tinder co-founder and $ABTC director, bought at $6.29 a share, close to the current price rather than a discount, boosting his stake by 166%.
It's the largest insider purchase at the company in a year, and insiders haven't sold a single share over that stretch. Eric Trump's stake alone has lost over $600 million in value since the peak.

eToro's crypto trades fell 73% year over year. The same day, it announced a $231 million deal to buy a stock brokerage.
Crypto revenue dropped from $1.91 billion to $1.35 billion, and the average amount invested per trade fell 50%.
Instead of chasing volume back up, eToro has been investing in self-custody firms, on-chain infrastructure, and now a US stock brokerage known for its short-selling tools.
A rival exchange took a strikingly similar route into the US market earlier this year, for a strikingly similar reason.

Regulators say $397 million from 1,600 investors bought six mansions, a fleet of Lamborghinis and Rolls-Royces, and dozens of Louis Vuitton bags.
The CFTC and SEC both filed charges against Goliath Ventures and its CEO on the same day, accusing him of running a Ponzi scheme dressed up as Bitcoin and Ethereum trading, paying earlier investors with newer investors' money while issuing account statements showing gains that never existed. He already pleaded guilty to related criminal charges in June.

Russia's central bank just narrowed retail crypto access down to exactly three coins.
A new draft directive names Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT as the only cryptocurrencies that non-qualified retail investors can buy under the country's new digital asset law, on top of an already-signed 300,000-ruble annual cap per broker. Qualified investors face no such ceiling.
The list could still grow, but only for tokens that can clear a specific bar most won't meet.

A bank wants to pilot a blockchain settlement system. Its engineers can write code, but nobody has built a permissioned ledger before, and compliance has a long list of questions nobody can answer yet.
That gap is exactly what blockchain consulting firms exist to close, and which one fits depends entirely on the project.
We ranked 9 firms and what each one is actually built for:

Strategy's CEO says the recent Bitcoin sales don't mean what people think they mean.
The company has bought $ 175,000 in $BTC this year, roughly 25 times as much as it has sold, according to Phong Le ( @phongle ), who says buying resumes once the company's preferred stock gets back to par value.
The sales trace to two specific obligations, rebuilding cash reserves and supporting a 12%-yielding preferred dividend, not a change in long-term strategy, in Le's telling.

Most people know they can buy crypto. Far fewer know it's never printed by anyone.
New coins are created through mining, staking, or minting, depending on the blockchain, and each method follows rules written directly into the code, with no central authority deciding when to issue more.
Bitcoin miners compete to solve a puzzle. Ethereum validators lock up collateral instead. Other tokens, like stablecoins and wrapped assets, get created through entirely different mechanisms with their own separate risks.
We broke down how each method actually works and what keeps the whole system honest:

A Bitcoin miner just shut down every one of its US mining sites. It's still selling off its own Bitcoin holdings on top of that.
Keel Infrastructure ( @keelinfra_ ) completed the decommissioning of its US mining operations to clear the ground for AI data centers, and revenue fell 50% year over year as a result.
It's also sold 1,085 BTC since April, leaving 1,861 BTC on its balance sheet, and has raised $819 million in liquidity to fund the pivot.
None of Keel's three priority sites actually has a signed AI tenant yet, and that's the detail that decides whether this bet pays off.

Investors who scored higher on a standardized crypto literacy test had 19% lower odds of reporting a financial loss.
That gap traced back to a lack of understanding, not market conditions. A book gives you room to build an idea from the ground up in a way a five-minute explainer video can't, and the right one depends entirely on where you're actually starting from, not which title is most popular.
We picked 9, ranked from complete beginner to technical reader, with a guide on which one matches your level:
