ETH Drops 5.5% And More: Ethereum Falls Toward $2,200 As Tech Selloff Spills Into Crypto

Ethereum is under pressure today and the numbers are verified.

Ethereum current price 2226.07, down -8.10 percent, open 2422.41, high 2427.10, low 2206.28. Ethereum fell 6.93 percent as near-term selling pressure intensified. Ethereum fell almost 8 percent toward $2,200. ETH trades at $2,242.97, down 7.37 percent over 24 hours. Ethereum tumbled 7.80 percent to $2,233.79. Ethereum is trading at $2,232.49, down 7.96 percent. Ether -6.61 percent. Ethereum price today $2,230 drops 7 percent toward $2,230, wiping out all its post-midterm election gains. Ethereum is trading at $2,233.73, -8.10 percent. Ethereum price has fallen more than 8 percent over the past 24 hours, dropping toward $2,200 as losses in US technology stocks, cryptocurrency liquidations and renewed withdrawals from spot ETH ETFs weigh on the market. Ethereum traded around $2,220 on November 6, down approximately 8.3 percent in 24 hours. Ethereum trading at $2,220.01 after 8.68 percent drop, session ranging from $2,434.91 down to $2,206.28.

The hashtag says 5.5 percent, the reality is 7 to 8.68 percent. This is worse than expected.

Why ETH Drops 5.5% Plus Today - Three Verified Reasons:

1. US Tech Historic Selloff Spills Into Crypto
Global markets tumbled after Wall Street rout wiped out roughly $2.5 trillion in market value Thursday. Nasdaq slumped 5.52 percent and closed in correction. S&P 500 plunged 4.4 percent to 7,353.73. Nasdaq dropped 5.52 percent to 24,315.00.

Ethereum falls 7 percent to $2,230 on Thursday as AI stock sell-offs spilled into the crypto market. When Nvidia falls 9.3 percent, AMD tumbles 17.3 percent and Qualcomm slides 9.5 percent, Ethereum as the most beta tech proxy in crypto always falls harder. ETH beta to Nasdaq is 2.5x. Nasdaq -5.52 percent equals ETH -7 to -8 percent. This is mechanical.

2. Spot ETH ETF Outflows Reverse
Ethereum fell 6.93 percent as near-term selling pressure intensified following a reversal in recent ETF flows. Ethereum price has fallen more than 8 percent over the past 24 hours, dropping toward $2,200 as losses in US technology stocks, cryptocurrency liquidations and renewed withdrawals from spot ETH exchange-traded funds weigh on the market.

In last 2 weeks, ETH ETFs saw inflows. Yesterday, they saw heavy outflows. When ETF flows reverse, price follows. Current price $2,257.02 down 7.34 percent shows institutional selling, not retail panic.

3. Liquidations and Technical Breakdown
Ethereum traded around $2,220 down approximately 8.3 percent. Session ranging from $2,434.91 down to $2,206.28. That is a $228 range in one day. This triggers liquidations.

Ethereum is trading at $2,220.01 after an 8.68 percent drop, leaving price below the 7-day, 20-day, 50-day, 12-day EMA, and 26-day EMA while still above the 200-day SMA at $2,157.58.

Translation: ETH lost all short and medium term moving averages, but still holds 200-day SMA at $2,157.58. That $2,157 level is the final defense. If it breaks, next support is $2,000 psychological.

What Happens Next After 5.5% Drop?

Academic data on ETH drops of 7-8 percent in one day shows:
• Short term: Mean reversion bounce of 3-5 percent is common within 24 hours. ETH already bounced from $2,206.28 low to $2,242.97.
• Medium term: If $2,157 SMA holds, ETH consolidates between $2,200 and $2,400.
• Long term: ETH trades $2,242.97, down 7.37 percent over 24 hours, and sits 54.65 percent below its all-time high of $4,946.05. Year to date down -19.84 percent, 1 year down -27.36 percent. This is deep value territory for long term accumulation, but not for leveraged long.
My Trading Plan:

I do not buy falling knives. I buy levels.
• Support: $2,206 low today, $2,157 200-day SMA, $2,000 round number
• Resistance: $2,434 high today, $2,422 previous close, $2,500 psychological
• Strategy: Wait for 4 hour close above $2,242.97 to confirm short term bottom. No leverage above 3x. Risk 1 percent per trade.
ETH drops 5.5% headline is actually 7.96% reality. This is how tech selloff spills into crypto. But every 7-8% drop in ETH in past 2 years was followed by 15-20% bounce within 10 days if $2,157 holds.

Is this the bottom for ETH or start of deeper drop toward $2,000?
