Gate Introduces PoSEC: Taking Crypto Security and Transparency to the Next Level
Security and transparency are two of the most important foundations of the cryptocurrency industry. As more people enter the digital asset market, they need confidence that their funds are properly managed, stored and protected.

This is why I appreciate Gate's introduction of Proof of Security (PoSEC). In my opinion, this is an important step toward making exchange security more transparent and measurable.

Gate is showing that protecting customer assets is not only about maintaining sufficient reserves. How those assets are stored and how effectively they are protected also matter.

1. What Is Gate PoSEC?
Proof of Security (PoSEC) is a new framework introduced by Gate to provide additional transparency regarding asset custody and security coverage.

Traditional Proof of Reserves (PoR) focuses on whether an exchange holds sufficient assets to cover customer balances.

PoSEC goes further by examining cold storage coverage and the structure of asset storage.

I believe this is an important improvement because users deserve to understand not only how much an exchange holds but also how its assets are protected.

2. Gate's Important Security Figures
According to Gate's published PoSEC information, the latest reported figures include:

Cold Storage Coverage Ratio: 104.58%

Assets Held in Cold Storage: 88.26%

Assets Held in Hot Wallets: 11.74%

Independent Third-Party Verification: Underway
These numbers deserve attention.

A 104.58% cold storage coverage ratio indicates that the reported eligible cold storage assets exceed the customer asset coverage benchmark under Gate's methodology.

Meanwhile, 88.26% of stored assets are held in cold storage, highlighting the importance Gate places on offline asset protection.

3. Why Cold Storage Matters
Cold storage is an important part of cryptocurrency security.

Hot wallets are connected to online systems and support everyday deposits, withdrawals and transactions. Cold storage keeps eligible assets outside routine online transaction environments, reducing exposure to certain online threats.

Gate's PoSEC framework emphasizes important security principles:

Offline asset storage.

Multi-party authorization.

Independent custody arrangements.
Verifiable asset ownership.

Transparent coverage calculations.

I particularly appreciate the focus on multiple authorization requirements because sensitive asset transfers should not depend on a single access point.

4. Gate's Proof of Reserves Foundation
Gate has also developed its Proof of Reserves framework to provide users with greater transparency.

According to its October 18, 2026 report:

Total platform reserves:

Approximately $8.688 billion.

Overall reserve ratio: 118.49%.

Customer net assets: Approximately $7.332 billion.

Supported assets: 500 cryptocurrencies

Selected reserve ratios:

BTC: 121.60%.

ETH: 123.78%.

GT: 129.00%.

DOGE: 106.76%.

SOL: 102.51%.

Gate also uses Merkle Tree technology and zk-SNARKs to support balance verification while protecting user privacy.

These tools help users understand how their assets are represented in the reserve reporting process.

5. Independent Verification Is Important
Another positive aspect of PoSEC is the independent third-party verification process currently underway.

The review is intended to examine asset authenticity, custody arrangements, valuation methods and the accuracy of coverage calculations.

I believe independent verification is essential because transparency should be supported by evidence and clear reporting.

Publishing completed verification results will give users additional information when evaluating an exchange's security framework.

It is also important to remember that security coverage figures do not guarantee protection against every possible incident. Continuous monitoring and improvements remain necessary.

6. Why I Appreciate Gate
Gate was founded in 2013 and has continued expanding its cryptocurrency ecosystem.

What I appreciate is that Gate is not focusing only on trading opportunities. It is also developing security, transparency and asset protection.

Consider these important developments:
Proof of Reserves for reserve transparency.
Merkle Tree technology for balance verification.

zk-SNARKs for privacy-conscious verification.

Cold storage for offline asset protection.

Multi-party authorization for sensitive transfers.
PoSEC for additional security coverage transparency.

From my perspective, introducing PoSEC is a positive development because it encourages the entire industry to improve its security standards.

Gate is providing users with more information to evaluate how assets are stored and protected.

7. My Recommendations for Better Exchange Security
I believe major cryptocurrency exchanges should disclose three additional areas of security information.

First, regular cold storage reports. Users should be able to monitor storage coverage and changes over time.

Second, independent security assessments. Exchanges should publish verification results covering asset ownership, custody arrangements and security controls.

Third, emergency risk management. Users should understand how exchanges manage unusual withdrawals, suspicious activities and potential security incidents.

These improvements could strengthen user confidence throughout the digital asset industry.

8. My Personal Opinion
As a trader, I believe protecting capital is just as important as finding profitable trading opportunities.

We spend time analyzing Bitcoin, Ethereum, altcoins, market trends, support levels and resistance levels. However, we should also pay attention to the security of the exchange we use.

A strong trading platform needs more than liquidity and a wide selection of assets. It also needs responsible asset management, transparent reporting and continuous security improvements.
Gate's reported 104.58% cold storage coverage and 88.26% cold storage allocation are important figures in this discussion.

I appreciate Gate's efforts to move beyond traditional reserve reporting and provide users with additional information about asset custody.

For me, the transition from PoR to PoSEC represents a meaningful step toward stronger transparency.

9. Final Thoughts
The future of cryptocurrency depends on innovation, trust and responsible security practices.
Gate deserves appreciation for introducing PoSEC and expanding the information available to users about asset storage and security coverage.

I hope Gate continues improving this framework, publishes its independent verification results and provides regular updates.

My message to fellow traders is simple: Never evaluate an exchange only by its trading features. Always consider its reserves, custody arrangements, security controls and transparency.

A safer and more transparent crypto industry benefits everyone.
