Sentiment in the crypto market has shifted once again. On October 16, the Fear and Greed Index rose to 63, entering the "Greed" zone. A day earlier, the index stood at 53, placing it in the "Neutral" zone. This transition indicates a notable increase in investors' appetite for risk over the past few days. The index’s trajectory in recent weeks has been volatile: it was at 73 on October 6, fell to 61 on October 11, climbed to 69 on October 12, dropped to 57 on October 13, and has now risen back to 63.

Behind this shift in sentiment lies a recovery in the prices of major cryptocurrencies. As of October 16, Bitcoin is trading at $82,241, having gained 0.67% over the last 24 hours. Ethereum has risen by 0.79% to $2,442. Solana is trading at $105.41—a gain of 1.06%—while XRP is up 0.32% at $1.33. Dogecoin, meanwhile, has fallen by 1.01% to $0.081. This landscape suggests that most major assets are experiencing a shared upward trend.

There are further signs of an increased risk appetite across the broader market. Analysts note that investors are gravitating toward higher-risk assets—a trend typically associated with a stronger bull market. Bitcoin has managed to hold above the critical $80,000 support level, showing no signs of a return to bear market territory. This resilience has contributed to a recovery in short-term sentiment.

However, beneath this optimistic outlook lie developments that warrant caution. Inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have been volatile in recent weeks; while there was a net inflow of $241.1 million during the week of September 28–October 2, the following week—October 5–9—saw a net outflow of $678.9 million. Such abrupt shifts in flows suggest that institutional demand has yet to find a stable footing. Furthermore, liquidations in the futures market indicate that the market remains susceptible to volatility driven by leverage.

The macroeconomic backdrop is another crucial piece of the puzzle. Recent inflation data from the U.S. came in higher than expected, fueling uncertainty regarding the Federal Reserve’s interest rate path. A high-interest-rate environment continues to exert pressure on non-yielding assets. Consequently, the current optimism in the crypto market could shift rapidly, depending on incoming macroeconomic data and central bank policies.

The key factors to watch in the coming days are clear: the consistency of ETF inflows, the concentration of leveraged positions, and expectations surrounding the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decisions. These three variables will determine whether the prevailing sense of "greed" in the market proves to be sustainable.
