Quick reality check before the headline numbers: WCTC S9 is “live,” but only registration is. Trading doesn’t start until October 26 and runs to November 25 (08:00 UTC). Here’s how I read the fine print as someone who actually trades.

1. The pool is “up to,” not guaranteed
You’ll see 8M USDT floating around, but that was last season’s headline. S9 is up to 6M USDT, and it unlocks as more valid traders join. The split: squads up to 3.2M, Ecosystem Carnival 1M, Lucky Launchpad 725K, individual 400K, BTC event contract PK 400K, and a 275K new-trader pool. My math: that adds up to exactly 6M, and the squad track alone is about 53% of it. A solo trader is fighting for the smaller slices.

2. Volume has a price
The individual volume leaderboard needs 20,000 USDT in converted volume. At an assumed 0.1% blended fee (check your own tier), that’s roughly $20 in fees just to get on the board, before any profit or loss. Rankings reward volume or PnL depending on the track, and both nudge people to trade more than they normally would.

3. Squads and the “average” trap
Squads need a captain plus four members, with two phases (Oct 26 – Nov 10 and Nov 10 – Nov 25). The pool is described as split into two halves, so if even, that’s about 1.6M per phase. One report says the first 24 hours brought over 21,000 registrations and 2,454 squads. Spread 6M across 21,000 registrants and you get about $286 each. But prizes follow rankings, so most participants will land far below that average.

4. Lucky Launchpad
The official description says a free launch on first entry, with chances at USDT, position vouchers, fee rebate vouchers, random tokens, stocks and merch. The key word is “chances.” I couldn’t verify that every entry pays cash, and vouchers come with their own terms, so read them.

5. BTC event contract PK
These are 5-minute BTC/USDT up/down rounds. That’s 288 rounds a day, roughly 8,640 over the 30 days. Each round is close to a coin flip, so any fee or spread pushes the expectation negative. A ranking like this often rewards a lucky streak or heavy volume more than skill.

6. Where BTC sits right now (levels from my daily chart)
BTC is around 80,787, right on the 80,786 support line.

50-day MA at 81,228: about +0.5%
Resistance at 86,577: about +7.2%
99-day at 73,786: about -8.7%
200-day at 72,316: about -10.5%
RSI is around 44, and MACD is below its signal line with a negative histogram.

Daily levels are background, not a signal for 5-minute rounds. A 5-minute candle can’t tell you whether support holds.

My take: this is a marketing budget flowing to active traders, and it’s fair to treat it that way. It makes sense only if you’d trade this volume anyway. I’d set a max loss before October 26, ignore the headline pool, and not size up just to chase a rank. The pool is a bonus, not a reason to trade.

Not financial advice.

Are you entering as a solo trader or with a squad, and does a 5-minute event contract round look like skill or a coin flip to you?
