#GateLaunchesJapaneseStockTrading Gate Just Opened a New Door to Japan’s Equity Market
Gate is expanding beyond crypto once again, and this time the move is directly into Japanese equities. Gate officially launched Japanese stock trading on August 21, initially bringing around 300 Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed stocks onto its platform. The latest expansion has now reached both Web and App, giving users access across desktop and mobile.
What makes the launch particularly interesting is the settlement experience. Instead of requiring users to open a separate traditional Japanese brokerage account or first convert their funds into Japanese yen, Gate allows eligible users to trade Japanese stocks using USDT. Stock prices and position values are displayed in JPY, while trading funds and fees are settled in USDT according to Gate's applicable rules.
The initial lineup includes some of Japan's most recognizable companies, including Toyota Motor, Sony Group, SoftBank Group, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Nintendo and Tokyo Electron. That gives the launch exposure across automobiles, electronics, financials, technology and consumer entertainment rather than concentrating on a single sector.
The bigger story is therefore not simply “300 Japanese stocks were added.”
It is the continued convergence of crypto-native infrastructure and traditional capital markets.
A trader who already holds USDT can now access another major equity market without making the traditional journey through a separate Japanese brokerage account and fiat conversion. Gate is effectively trying to make stocks another component of a broader multi-asset trading environment.
And Japan is an important market to add.
Japanese equities have benefited from structural themes including corporate reforms, improving domestic demand and rising wages. Investment research on Japan's 2026 outlook also points to a broadening market beyond the biggest AI-related names, creating opportunities across multiple sectors.
There is also a wider technological shift happening inside Japan's financial system. Japan is studying blockchain-based infrastructure for faster settlement of stocks and Japanese government bonds, with the goal of eventually enabling much faster movement of financial assets.
That makes Gate's move particularly timely.
Traditional equities are increasingly being connected with digital-asset infrastructure, while blockchain technology itself is moving deeper into financial-market settlement and tokenization.
From a portfolio perspective, the launch creates another diversification route. Crypto traders who previously focused primarily on BTC, ETH and other digital assets can now monitor Japanese companies through the same broader platform environment. At the same time, investors interested in Japanese equities gain another way to interact with companies that are already globally significant.
The key numbers to remember are simple:
Initial Japanese stock coverage: ~300 TSE-listed stocks
Settlement asset: USDT
Price display: JPY
Access: Gate Web + App
Major names: Toyota, Sony, SoftBank, MUFG, Nintendo, Tokyo Electron
But this is only the starting point.
Gate has already expanded its stock ecosystem across U.S., Hong Kong and Korean markets, while its broader platform now covers a much larger range of global assets. Japanese stocks therefore look less like an isolated product launch and more like another step toward a single multi-asset trading environment.
My takeaway: the important part of #GateLaunchesJapaneseStockTrading is not just the number of stocks available today. It is the infrastructure being built around them.
Crypto users are increasingly getting access to traditional markets, while traditional assets are increasingly being connected to digital financial rails.
Japan's equity market is now part of that transition on Gate.
And with approximately 300 stocks at launch and access already expanded across Web and App, the bigger question is how quickly the Japanese lineup and multi-asset ecosystem can grow from here.
