Event Contracts: Short-Term Direction, Controlled Risk

What if you could trade a short-term BTC or ETH price view without leverage, margin calls, or liquidation?

That is the basic idea behind Gate Event Contracts. Instead of trading the size of a leveraged position, you take a directional view on where the market will finish when a defined time window expires.

The setup is simple: choose an asset, select a duration such as 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, or 4 hours, then decide whether you expect the price to finish above or below the target.

Bullish means you expect the price to finish higher than the specified target.

Bearish means you expect it to finish lower.

Each contract is priced between 0.01 and 0.99 USDT. That price effectively reflects the market's current probability assessment. If your prediction is correct at expiration, each winning contract pays 1 USDT. If incorrect, the contract expires worthless.

The key attraction is straightforward: your maximum loss is limited to the amount you spend on the contracts. There is no traditional liquidation mechanism.

There are also three ways to manage a position:

1️⃣ Open a Position
Select the asset and duration, choose Bullish or Bearish, enter your quantity and place the order. The minimum trade value is 5 USDT, with at least 6 contracts, and trading is conducted in USDT.

2️⃣ Exit Before Expiration
You do not necessarily have to wait for settlement. If the market moves in your favor, you can close early and realize the available profit. Likewise, closing early can limit a developing loss.

3️⃣ Let It Settle Automatically
If you keep the position until expiration, the contract settles automatically according to the final outcome. Correct predictions receive 1 USDT per contract, while incorrect contracts become worthless. Settlement generally takes around 3–10 minutes.

For example, buying 100 BTC Bullish contracts at 0.40 USDT costs 40 USDT. If BTC finishes above the target, the position settles at 100 USDT, producing a 60 USDT gross gain. If the prediction fails, the 40 USDT principal is lost.

Where can you find it?

Event Contracts are currently accessible through the latest Gate App version. You can enter through Event Contracts at the top of Futures, or via Home → Events → Event Markets → More. First-time users need identity verification and must complete the required Innovation Trading Disclaimer quiz and User Agreement.

But here's the part traders should not ignore:

Event Contracts are probability-based, not guaranteed-profit products.

A low contract price does not automatically mean a bargain, and a high probability does not mean certainty. Repeated short-term trades can drain capital quickly, especially when decisions become emotional.

My approach would be simple: use only risk capital, keep individual positions controlled, avoid revenge trading, and consider closing early when the market gives you the move you expected.

The real edge is not predicting every candle.

It is knowing when your probability is strong enough to take the trade—and when to walk away.
