#GateReservesRiseTo$8.2Billion
Gate’s reserve story is getting more interesting.
The headline number is now around $8.2B in total reserves, but for me, the bigger point is what sits behind that figure: Gate’s latest Proof of Reserves reported a 117% overall reserve ratio across nearly 500 user assets. That means the platform’s disclosed reserves were still above the corresponding customer balances rather than simply matching them 1:1.
The core-asset numbers also show why this deserves attention. User BTC holdings increased to 21,557 BTC, while Gate reported 26,775 BTC in reserves, giving a 24.2% excess-reserve ratio. ETH user holdings reached 374,348 ETH versus 456,798 ETH in reserves, representing a 22.02% excess reserve.
Stablecoins tell a similar story. Gate reported $1.59B in reserves against $1.336B in USDT, USDC, USD1 and GUSD customer holdings, equal to a 118.97% reserve ratio and 18.97% excess coverage.
What I find more important is the trend rather than one snapshot. As the platform expands into spot, derivatives, stocks, ETFs, Web3 and other financial products, maintaining reserve coverage above 100% becomes a meaningful part of the transparency conversation.
Of course, Proof of Reserves is not the same thing as saying an exchange has zero risk. But when user balances grow and disclosed reserves continue to remain above those balances, that is a metric worth watching closely.
For me, the real question going forward is simple:
Can Gate continue growing its user assets and business volume while preserving this reserve buffer?
That trend will be much more interesting than the headline $8.2B number itself.
