#February CPI Data Release The February CPI data release is scheduled for today, March 12, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. (ET) ¹. This release will provide insights into the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for February 2025, including changes in prices for food, energy, and other goods and services.
To give you a better idea of what to expect, let's look at the previous month's data. In January 2025, the CPI for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.5 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis. The index for shelter rose 0.4 percent, accounting for nearly 30 percent of the monthly all items increase ².
Here are some key categories to watch in the upcoming February CPI data release:
- *Food*: Will the index for food continue to rise, and if so, which specific categories will drive the increase?
- *Energy*: How will the energy index change, considering the fluctuations in gasoline and fuel oil prices?
- *Shelter*: Will the shelter index maintain its upward trend, and what implications will this have for housing costs?
- *Core CPI*: What will be the change in the core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, and what does this indicate about underlying inflation trends?
