Information about MINA

Mina Protocol is a layer one protocol designed to provide scalability and privacy for a distributed network. The protocol uses zk-SNARK (zero-knowledge succinct non-interactive arguments of knowledge) technology, allowing it to be referred to as one of the ‘light’ cryptocurrencies with a compressed blockchain of (22 KB).

Instead of storing the full blockchain data, Mina Protocol network participants store only proofs of transaction confirmations. This mechanism allows any device, even a mobile one, to become a full node in the Mina network, significantly lowering the entry barrier and increasing decentralization.

The Mina network is secured by a proof-of-stake consensus (Proof-of-Stake, PoS) called Ouroboros Samisika.

Based on Ouroboros, created by Cardano, Ouroboros Samisika represents a PoS consensus mechanism that requires much less computational power than the Proof-of-Work algorithm (Proof-of-Work, PoW) Bitcoin.
