On February 2nd, Jin10 News reported that after more than 7 months of negotiations, on the evening of January 31st, local time, the five major parties in Belgium reached a protocol and agreed to form a new government led by De Wever, the chairman of the New Flemish Alliance. De Wever submitted a detailed report on the protocol to King Philippe of Belgium. The protocol still needs to be officially approved by the five parties. In the Belgian federal parliamentary elections held in June last year, the five parties together won 81 seats in the 150-seat House of Representatives, with the New Flemish Alliance led by De Wever winning 24 seats, maintaining the position as the largest party in the federal parliament. De Wever was subsequently appointed as the coordinator for forming a coalition government and held consultations with other major parties. However, due to serious policy differences among the parties, the coalition negotiation repeatedly broke down.
