Ethereum’s Holesky testnet launch halted due to unforeseen technical challenges
During the launch of the Holesky test network, unexpected obstacles arose, causing a delay of approximately two weeks.
In a surprising move, Ethereum developers encountered an unexpected setback on Friday while trying to launch a new test network, Holesky.
The hiccup derailed what was supposed to be a celebratory technical milestone marking the one-year anniversary of Ethereum’s groundbreaking “merge” upgrade.
Holesky testnet faces Genesis file incident
On September 15, Ethereum developers encountered an unexpected obstacle when trying to launch the Holesky test network. While some validators were able to manually launch the test network, Ethereum core developers soon discovered a critical misconfiguration in one of the genesis files that halted the launch.
Therefore, they decided to delay the launch of the Holesky testnet by about two weeks to give them time to regroup and solve the problem at hand.
