ME News, July 27 (UTC+8) — Korean blockchain gaming platform WEMIX updated abnormal transaction activity and its response measures. The investigation results show that the contract ownership related to WEMIX was compromised. The attacker minted approximately 5,225,525 WEMIX without authorization, which was later exchanged for about 30,736 WEMIX and 724,198.27 USDC.e. The stolen USDC.e was transferred via bridges to Ethereum and BSC, then exchanged for assets such as ETH and USDT, and part of it was deposited into centralized exchanges. The attacker’s wallet and the flow of funds have been traced, and the team is applying to exchanges and stablecoin issuers for account freezes. The exact cause is still under investigation. The team and external experts are conducting a comprehensive review while also checking relevant and similar contracts. Market data shows the WEMIX token price fell 16.65% over the past 24 hours.
