TRUMP PAUSES EXPANDED IRAN STRIKES: WILL OIL COOL DOWN OR STAY ABOVE $100?
Global markets entered the final weekend of July with investors balancing two powerful forces: easing expectations of immediate military escalation and persistent concerns over energy supply. Reports indicate that President Donald Trump decided not to proceed with broader military strikes against Iran after high-level discussions on July 24, citing concerns that a wider conflict could trigger stronger retaliation and place additional pressure on regional security.
While the decision reduced fears of an immediate escalation, markets remain cautious because geopolitical risks across the Middle East have not disappeared.
BRENT CRUDE REMAINS THE MARKET'S BIGGEST SIGNAL
Oil continues to be the most sensitive asset to developments in the region.
Despite the reported pause in military expansion, Brent crude is still trading around the psychologically important $100-per-barrel level, while WTI remains elevated after a sharp rally earlier this week. Traders continue pricing a geopolitical risk premium as uncertainty surrounding Middle East energy routes persists. Analysts note that every additional period of supply disruption could keep upward pressure on crude prices, even if military activity temporarily slows.
For now, the market is watching three important oil levels:
Support: $97-$98
Key Pivot: $100
Resistance: $103-$105
Holding above $100 would suggest that traders still expect supply risks to remain elevated, while a sustained move below $98 could indicate easing geopolitical concerns.
WHY OIL MATTERS FOR EVERY MARKET
Higher oil prices affect much more than the energy sector.
• Rising fuel costs increase inflation pressure.
• Inflation influences central bank policy expectations.
• Higher interest-rate expectations can pressure equities and cryptocurrencies.
• Safe-haven demand often strengthens for assets like gold during periods of uncertainty.
This chain reaction explains why oil has become one of the most closely watched macro indicators heading into the final week of July.
BITCOIN'S RESPONSE
Bitcoin is currently trading near $64,500, remaining inside a consolidation range despite increased geopolitical headlines.
The market has shown resilience, but traders are still waiting for a decisive breakout.
Technical Levels
Support: $64,000-$64,200
Secondary Support: $63,500-$63,800
Resistance: $65,000-$65,500
A move above resistance could improve short-term momentum, while losing support may invite another test of lower demand zones.
GOLD REMAINS A SAFE-HAVEN BAROMETER
Gold continues attracting attention whenever geopolitical uncertainty increases.
If oil remains elevated and inflation expectations strengthen, demand for precious metals could remain supported. On the other hand, any lasting improvement in geopolitical conditions could reduce some of the immediate safe-haven buying pressure.
WHAT TRADERS SHOULD WATCH NEXT
The coming sessions will likely depend on several key developments:
• Whether Brent crude can remain above the $100 level.
• Any further geopolitical updates from the Middle East.
• Inflation expectations ahead of major central bank decisions.
• Bitcoin's ability to defend the $64,000 support area.
• Overall risk sentiment across global equity and commodity markets.
The reported decision to pause expanded military action has reduced immediate fears of a broader conflict, but it has not removed geopolitical risk from financial markets. Oil remains elevated, inflation concerns are still active, and investors continue adjusting portfolios based on every major development.
As long as Brent crude trades near or above $100, energy prices are likely to remain a major driver of global market sentiment. At the same time, Bitcoin, gold, and global equities will continue responding not only to economic data but also to changes in geopolitical expectations.
For traders, this is an environment where patience, disciplined risk management, and close monitoring of oil prices may be just as important as watching traditional technical indicators.
