Trump is anxious about a war with Iran; the conflict has continued for the fifth month with no sign of an end.
ME News, July 25 (UTC+8). U.S. President Donald Trump is increasingly dissatisfied with the ongoing escalation in the Iran war. The conflict, originally expected to end within weeks, has entered its fifth month. Continued military operations have driven up energy prices and may affect the Republican Party’s performance in the midterm elections in November.
Insiders say Trump is frustrated with the war’s progress and is seeking greater pressure on Iran. Since the ceasefire agreement broke down, the U.S. military has continued launching strikes against Iran. It has now carried out operations for 13 consecutive days, resulting in the deaths of 18 U.S. service members.
Trump said the U.S. is “ready,” but said it is still communicating with Iran and that Iran is becoming “increasingly serious.” However, analysts believe Trump currently faces multiple challenges: withdrawing forces would create political pressure, while escalating actions could broaden risks—and earlier negotiations failed to secure a long-term peace agreement.
The escalation has triggered shocks across global energy markets. Brent crude briefly broke above $100 per barrel on Monday, and gasoline prices in the U.S. rose in parallel. Meanwhile, attacks on Red Sea shipping by Iran-backed Houthi forces further complicate the situation in the region.
Analysts believe both the U.S. and Iran have the capacity to sustain conflict, and the war may enter a prolonged attrition phase. The Trump administration hopes to force Iran back to the negotiating table through military pressure, but it has not yet found a clear exit path. (Source: BlockBeats)
