BTC Breaks 66000 On ETF Flow Return

BTC has pushed above 66000 for first time since mid June and that break has revived bull talk across market.

News now: BTC moved from about 64000 to 66872 high in few days, now holds near 65858. Key driver is ETF flow. US spot BTC ETFs saw five straight days of net inflow totaling about 727M, longest streak since April. Total ETF assets climbed back above 79B from July low near 75B. IBIT led with 505M inflow July 14 to 20 and holds about 738k BTC. Latest day added 203M more, making six straight days and over 928M in less than a week. Month to date inflow now about 628M.

Yet onchain data says caution. Open interest in BTC futures jumped to about 23B as fresh lev came in. Funding briefly went negative then snapped up, a classic short squeeze. Spot volume since April has stayed soft, so rally is more lev driven than pure spot buy. CryptoQuant noted no overheat yet but rally not on solid footing. Watch spot volume to warm up before chasing.

Market effect: BTC market cap near 1.33T. Above 66000, next watch is 67500 to 68000 resistance, then 72700 if flow holds. Support near 63281 and 64000. Alt flow improved a bit: ETH ETFs added 37M Tuesday, total 309M month to date, XRP ETFs up 12.3M, SOL up 13M. Gold bid 1.1 percent to 4121 on safe haven, oil near 92 on Gulf risk, Nasdaq futures off 0.77 percent before big tech print. So BTC is fighting headwind from rates that now price 69 percent chance of hike by Sep and war noise.

Logical view: This BTC break is ETF led, not yet spot led. That is ok for start but needs spot follow. If ETF streak stays and spot volume rises, 66000 can turn into floor. If ETF streak fades and Fed meet July 28 to 29 stays hawkish, 66000 may be top of range. K33 note said July is seasonally weak for BTC vol and July outflow share fell to 33 percent from 90 percent in June, a good shift.

Real idea: For traders, keep risk tight around 66000. Long above 65000 with target 68000 and hard stop below 63281 makes sense for short term. For holders, ETF inflow turn is first green shoot after 6.9B outflow in May plus June. DCA still wise until spot confirms.

Bottom line: BTC breaks 66000 on 727M of fresh ETF inflow and short squeeze. Break is real but lev heavy. Hold above 65000 with spot volume up would open path to 68000 and 72000. Fail below 64000 would put summer range back in play.
