Senate Democrats say they oppose the new crypto bill. They're also helping write the version that might pass.

A group of Senate Democrats publicly said they don't support the current draft of the Crypto Clarity Act, while at the same time saying they're working with Republicans to get something over the finish line before recess.
That's not really a contradiction. In Congress, opposing a specific draft while negotiating toward a version you could eventually support is a normal, if confusing, part of how legislation actually gets made.
Worth remembering next time a headline makes a "we oppose this" statement sound like the story is over. Often it's just one step in an ongoing negotiation.
