COTI Nightfall goes live on testnet, advancing enterprise privacy toward Ethereum - Crypto Economy

COTI launched Nightfall in its internal testnet phase, the first decisive step on the path toward deployment on the Ethereum mainnet. The protocol, based on an open-source ZK Roll-up architecture originally developed by Ernst & Young in 2019, is designed for regulated and institutional environments that require transaction privacy without sacrificing transparency or auditability.

The rollout will take place in two phases: the first, currently active, involves the internal team and selected partners to validate network flows; the second will open the testnet to developers and the broader COTI community before the mainnet goes live during 2026.

Nightfall offers private transfers under the ERC-20, ERC-721, ERC-1155, and ERC-3225 standards, and incorporates KYC/AML flows, selective disclosure for regulators, and smart contracts with end-to-end encryption from the outset. The protocol operates in parallel with GC, the Garbled Circuits network oriented toward high-performance confidential computing.

Both networks use the COTI token as their native unit, establishing 1:1 bridges between chains and a fixed maximum supply, which allows expanding the token’s utility without modifying its issuance structure.
