#TrumpBacksEthicsDealForCLARITYAct

The path toward one of the most important crypto regulatory bills in the United States has taken a major turn. After months of political deadlock, Donald Trump has agreed to support the inclusion of ethics provisions in the CLARITY Act, removing a key obstacle that had slowed the legislation.

The agreement is being viewed as a strategic compromise designed to increase bipartisan support while addressing concerns over conflicts of interest involving public officials and digital assets. Although the bill still faces significant hurdles in the Senate, the latest development has strengthened optimism that long-awaited regulatory clarity for the crypto industry may finally move closer to reality.

Ethics Rules Become the Centerpiece

The revised proposal introduces stronger restrictions aimed at preventing senior federal officials from personally benefiting from cryptocurrency-related businesses while serving in office. The restrictions apply to the President, Vice President, members of Congress, and other high-ranking federal officials.

The debate intensified after reports highlighted substantial cryptocurrency-related earnings connected to the Trump family's digital asset ventures, including World Liberty Financial and its memecoin project. Those concerns became one of the biggest reasons negotiations stalled, making ethics protections the deciding issue in reaching a compromise.

Another notable change is the enforcement mechanism. Instead of allowing individual state attorneys general to oversee potential violations, responsibility would primarily rest with the U.S. Department of Justice, creating a single federal enforcement framework.

Senate Vote Remains the Biggest Challenge

Although the House has already approved the CLARITY Act, the legislation must still clear the Senate before becoming law.

Republicans currently control 53 Senate seats, but Senate rules require at least 60 votes to overcome procedural barriers. This means several Democratic senators would still need to support the bill for it to advance.

Not everyone is convinced. Critics, including Senator Elizabeth Warren and other Democratic lawmakers, argue that the proposed ethics language may not go far enough. Many have indicated they want to review the complete legislative text before deciding whether to support the measure.

Time Is Running Short

Congress has only a limited legislative window before its scheduled summer recess in early August. If the Senate cannot approve the bill before lawmakers leave Washington, the proposal could face significant delays as attention shifts toward the 2026 midterm election cycle.

That timeline makes the coming weeks especially important for both lawmakers and the digital asset industry.

Prediction Markets Reflect Growing Confidence

Market participants reacted quickly to the political breakthrough.

On Polymarket, the probability of the CLARITY Act becoming law during 2026 increased noticeably after the agreement, showing renewed confidence that negotiations are moving in a positive direction. However, prediction markets continue to suggest that the bill still faces meaningful political uncertainty before final approval.

Crypto Markets Respond Positively

The possibility of clearer regulations immediately lifted sentiment across digital asset markets.

Bitcoin (BTC) extended its rally and climbed above $66,500, reaching its strongest level in roughly a month as investors welcomed the prospect of a more predictable regulatory environment.

XRP also attracted renewed buying interest because the legislation could strengthen the legal framework surrounding certain digital assets, an outcome many investors believe would benefit XRP's regulatory position.

The positive mood extended beyond cryptocurrencies. Shares of crypto-focused companies, including Circle (CRCL), posted strong gains as investors anticipated that regulatory certainty could accelerate institutional participation and broader industry growth.

While the CLARITY Act is far from guaranteed, the latest compromise represents one of the most meaningful political breakthroughs for the U.S. crypto industry in recent months. If lawmakers can convert this agreement into bipartisan Senate support, the legislation could establish a clearer legal framework for digital assets, improve investor confidence, and shape the future of the American crypto market for years to come.
