Because they lack the ability to make independent judgments, so they can only borrow past authority to support their views. “Our ancestors said so” becomes the lowest-cost form of argumentation—no logic needed, no verification needed, just a supposedly irrefutable identity label. Many people equate the ancient with what is correct, equate inheritance with value, and wrap the limitations of the past as profound wisdom. The real issue isn’t whether there is tradition, but that some people stop thinking, treat history as the answer, and treat their ancestors as authority.
