Analysts: NAND flash memory supply shortage may ease by 2027

ME News, July 21 (UTC+8): Citrini analyst jukan posted on X that TrendForce expects the NAND flash supply shortage to ease in 2027. TrendForce noted that servers already account for more than 40% of total NAND flash capacity demand, while smartphones and laptops combined still remain close to 40%, continuing to significantly affect overall demand. In terms of inventory, storage manufacturers’ inventory levels remain relatively low. Despite an increase in module manufacturers’ inventories due to weak consumer demand, inventories held by other buyers are still at manageable levels. Based on these factors, TrendForce expects the NAND flash capacity supply-demand gap in 2026 to remain between negative 4% and negative 5%, indicating the shortage will continue; however, the gap is expected to turn positive in the second half of 2027, easing pressure on supply tightness.
