PANews July 21 news: stablecoin settlement bank startup Augustus has completed a $180 million fundraising round, with a post-investment valuation of $1 billion. The round was led by Tiger Global, with participation from Hummingbird, QED, and founders of Nubank, Ramp, Circle, Deel, among others. The company received conditional approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for a national bank charter. It plans to expand U.S. dollar settlement, while also expanding its customer base across Latin America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Augustus does not issue its own stablecoins. Instead, it builds an “AI-native” settlement infrastructure that connects traditional payment systems with blockchain networks, supporting programmable, 7×24-hour stablecoin settlement. It currently provides euro settlement through a licensed entity in Finland, processing tens of billions of euros per year, and serves institutional clients such as Kraken.
