When things are slow, let’s have a look at some gossip.

The founder feud between Kalshi and Polymarket prediction market platforms.
Polymarket was built by Shayne Coplan, a big-shot who started it in 2020, working on it alone out of his New York apartment—making bets with blockchain tech, playing it pretty wild. In the 2024 election, it even accurately predicted that Trump would win. So what happened?
In November, the FBI busted in early one morning and raided his home, confiscating all his phones and computers.
He was so angry that he directly called it political retaliation.
Kalshi was created by Tarek Mansour and his partner, and they took a compliant route—having licenses, doing identity verification, and so on.
The two founders already couldn’t stand each other. Years ago, when they met, Coplan tried to chat casually, saying, “We’re both single parents raised by single moms.” But Mansour found it awkward.
After the raid, it’s said that employees at Kalshi even went online to post something implying Coplan “is guilty” and pointed to Antonio Brown (the NFL star). Brown later took it back, saying he got carried away emotionally.
One of these companies loves crypto freedom, the other loves proper regulation. They fought to win market share and talent, and kept reporting on each other—turning the whole thing into chaos.
But you know what? Prediction markets are booming right now—trading volumes are through the roof. Coplan later also landed major investment and became a young billionaire.
In short, this business war is mixed with personal grudges—it’s pretty entertaining. The industry is basically stepping out of the underground into the spotlight one stage at a time. Pretty interesting, huh.
