Zcash’s new full-node client Zakura has been released, supporting the Ironwood network upgrade
PANews July 21, according to official news, Zcash’s new full-node client Zakura, jointly developed by Project Tachyon and Valar Group, has been officially released. Zakura is a free open-source client built on Zebra developed by the Zcash Foundation, and it has already supported the Ironwood (NU6.3) network upgrade, which is expected to be activated around July 28. The team plans to gradually bring future Zcash protocol upgrades such as quantum recoverability, recursive proofs, and private information retrieval into real networks through Zakura.
In the same-environment benchmark tests, Zakura takes about 4 hours 20 minutes to complete Zcash mainnet synchronization, while Zebra takes about 20 hours 46 minutes, with the sync speed improved by nearly 5 times. Zakura also supports native block pruning, node snapshots, and provides a zcashd compatible mode, which can reproduce the main RPC interfaces of the original node software, allowing existing infrastructure such as wallets, exchanges, and mining pools to migrate to the new client at lower cost.
