A friend in middle age was laid off and became unemployed!
After 15 years at work, the company compensated him $200k.
That day, he just got home. He thought his wife would comfort him with a few words, but instead, her first sentence was:
“What are you planning to do next?”
Then, without caring whether he agreed or not, she opened his phone and started helping him apply for jobs!
She asked his friends about work opportunities that might suit him
And suggested that he consider setting up a stall, delivering food, opening a shop, and so on
It seemed like his wife didn’t want him idle for even a minute.
Later, during a meal with Cat Brother one time, he suddenly said:
“It wasn’t that I didn’t want to work back then.
It’s just that I’d just been laid off, and I felt some disappointment.
At that time, what I actually hoped for was that she would say something first:
‘It’s okay, we’ll take it slow.’
But she didn’t say a word of comfort. She just kept helping me find a job
If it were you, and you ran into a situation like this—being laid off or unemployed—your partner does this. Would you feel it’s care, or a kind of pressure?”
