PANews July 21 reported, citing Cryptopolitan, that Kenya restored President William Ruto’s official website on July 21 (Sunday). Previously, the site was targeted by an unknown hacker, which altered its homepage; the hacker demanded a ransom of 5 BTC and threatened to leak so-called stolen files if no payment was made. On Saturday, visitors to president.go.ke saw a cryptocurrency wallet address and an insulting message aimed at the president. The Kenyan government quickly took action, and on Sunday the website was successfully restored to normal operation. At present, an investigation is ongoing to determine the hacker’s identity and the source of the attack.
