Trump nodded; the last obstacles to the CLARITY Act have been cleared
Trump approved the bill’s ethics provisions—restricting the president, vice president, and members of Congress from profiting from digital assets while in office.
This is the last major hurdle for the bill to pass. The controversy has long focused on his own Meme coin (TRUMP) and the involvement of his family in World Liberty Financial (WLFI).
The bill is set to be the first to deliver comprehensive regulation of digital assets at the federal level, clarifying the jurisdictional boundaries between the SEC and CFTC.
The Democrats have not yet seen the text of the provisions, and an amended version is expected to be released in the coming days.
The Senate needs to complete the vote before the first week of August.
