ME News update: On July 21 (UTC+8), the Kenyan government is investigating a hacking incident involving President William Ruto’s official website. On July 18, the attackers briefly tampered with a page on the presidential website and demanded a ransom of 5 BTC; otherwise, they would leak undisclosed data. Kenya’s Minister of Information, Communications and Digital Economy said the government has launched a cybersecurity response mechanism and is working with relevant agencies to carry out forensic investigations. As of now, there is no evidence showing that sensitive data was accessed without authorization or leaked, and the government’s digital services are still operating normally. (Source: BlockBeats)
