Coinbase CEO: Posts from a personal account do not constitute an investment signal, and we will not “pump” any token by endorsing it to drive up the price.

PANews, July 20 — Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong posted a clarification regarding his avatar change and the ensuing criticism that he is not sufficiently supporting the Base community. He said his personal account does not provide investment advice, and followers should not treat his posts or avatar as a single-coin “bullish signal.” The related content also does not constitute an endorsement of any project. Armstrong noted that Base’s goal is to build financial infrastructure services, including tokenized stocks, lending protocols, stablecoin payments, and meme coin trading, but that Coinbase, due to compliance constraints, cannot freely list every token, nor will it “stand on the sidelines to pump” any token. He emphasized that Coinbase and Base will support projects building on Base—projects that can create long-term user value—through offline Base Batches, ecosystem funds, and product integrations, among other means.
