ME News, July 20 (UTC+8). According to Beating monitoring by Beating, Recursive co-founder and former Meta FAIR research director Tian Yuandong recalled that Moonbeam co-founder Wu Yuxin was his intern back in 2015. To persuade his superiors to hire Wu Yuxin, he debated with her on the rooftop of the Facebook office building for an hour, and in the end even risked his own reputation. He said that events proved he had not misjudged her. Wu Yuxin later joined FAIR, co-proposed Group Normalization with He Kaiming, and created Detectron2. Today, he is involved in the development of the Kimi foundation model at Moonbeam. Tian Yuandong believes that in the era of large models, what’s even more needed are technical doers who personally inspect data, write code, and quickly iterate through trial and error—founders included.
