I just transferred the scattered ETH from an old address I had into a hardware wallet. Honestly, I used to always think, “My amount isn’t enough to deserve a cold wallet,” but in the first half of this year, a friend’s CEX went under and everything went to zero—then I realized: no matter how much you’re hoarding, if the private key isn’t in your own hands, you’re basically running around naked.

Recently, rumors have been flying around in groups about xx stablecoins depegging, and that the audit reports have something fishy, which has everyone on edge. That said, I trust on-chain data more—whether the reserve addresses show any abnormal changes is more reliable than whatever people are shouting on Twitter. But then again, when real panic hits, even if you’re using a hardware wallet, it still can’t stop yourself from getting an itch and chasing shitcoins. 😂

I studied social recovery options for a bit, and I think they’re still too complicated for ordinary retail users. I’ve only got two rules: keep the bulk in a cold wallet, and use an L2 hot wallet for small-scale activity. As for multisig? I’ll deal with that when my assets have grown 10x—let’s not add extra “craft difficulty” to my setup for now.
