PANews July 17 news: According to Xinhua News Agency, ahead of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and the high-level meeting on global AI governance, the new-generation model Kimi K3 was released on the 16th with a parameter scale of 2.8 trillion. This is currently the open-source model with the largest parameters in the world, marking another step forward in China’s AI model development. Beijing Moonshot Darkmatter Technology Co., Ltd., which released the model, said that Kimi K3 natively supports visual understanding, has a 1 million-token context window, and is optimized for complex task scenarios such as software engineering, knowledge work, deep research, and multimodal understanding, further improving the ability of large models to handle complex tasks.

As is known, in evaluations, Kimi K3’s overall intelligence level is close to that of leading global closed-source models. A relevant person in charge at Moonshot Darkmatter said that in training Kimi K3, the new-generation foundational large model, it used a proprietary underlying model architecture and developed and accumulated a complete set of scientific model training methods.
